The average salary for a wedding planner coordinator is only $51,262. This amount doesn’t include how much a wedding planner coordinator has to subtract for business expenses. So, why is a typical wedding planner coordinator’s salary so low, especially when most will make at least $1,000 per wedding? The answer is because there are only so many weddings a wedding planner coordinator can design in a year. With all the time that it takes, even the most efficient wedding planning coordinators can only do about 30 to 40 weddings per year. But this amount could be doubled if a wedding planner decides to hire a wedding planner coordinator assistant.

What is a wedding planner coordinator assistant? Well, basically, they are the secretaries of the wedding planning world. Wedding planner coordinator assistants would handle all of your busy-work, ranging from making phone calls, scheduling events and even going out and buying any necessary products for the wedding. They can also assist in your marketing efforts, designing and mailing flyers, brochures and other documentation for your business. Additionally, if you are working from an office building, a wedding planner coordinator assistant can provide a sense of presence for your business, as they greet clients that come in.

Anyway, with the wedding planner coordinator assistant handling all of the busy-work, (which takes up a lot more time than you think), you, as the wedding planner, now have more time to handle the design aspects of wedding planning work. For example, you could spend more time trying to ensure your client will have the perfect bride’s dress. Or, you could spend more time getting more affordable catering for your clients’ wedding. Either way, once you have set up the format of the wedding, you can use the wedding planning coordinator assistant to make the final arrangements.

The only downside to hiring a wedding planner coordinator assistant is that you’re going to have to provide him or her a fixed salary. If you don’t mind hiring an entry-level wedding planner coordinator assistant, you can probably charge $20,000 a year. Now, if you’re like the average wedding planner, only pulling in $51,262 a year, having to shell out an additional $20,000 will cause your salary to only be $31,262, at least initially. Once your wedding planner coordinator assistant learns their job, you’ll find you’ll be able to work with more clients, since you’ll naturally have more time available to you. Eventually, you should find yourself doubling your workload, taking on 60 to 80 clients instead of the typical 30 to 40.

Of course, you can offer an even lower salary for your wedding planner coordinator assistant if you don’t mind them telecommuting and working part-time. Telecommuters work as independent contractors, so you don’t have to worry about paying taxes, health insurance or any of the other costs associated with in-office employees. They also tend to be more negotiable when it comes to salary, since you are allowing them the privilege of being able to work from home.
